The Economic Impact of the USDA Southeast Alaska Sustainability Strategy Investment Spending 2025 report examines the regional economic effects of USDA investments made through the Southeast Alaska Sustainability Strategy (SASS). Using regional economic modeling, the report estimates the employment, wages, and business activity generated by SASS-funded projects while documenting the distribution of investments across Southeast Alaska. Between 2022 and 2025, SASS invested $20 million in 55 projects, generating an estimated $29.6 million in regional economic activity, supporting 436 job-years of employment, and producing $12.6 million in labor income. The analysis also found that approximately 89% of project expenditures remained within Southeast Alaska, maximizing the economic benefits of federal investment for local businesses, workers, and communities.
